Maunsel White Hickey papers, 1828-1946.

This collection consists of handwritten and typed correspondence, legal and financial documents, business papers, and personal family papers of Maunsel White Hickey. Included are bank records, newspaper clippings, post cards, calling cards, business cards, school and camp records, a diploma, a prayer book, photographs, stock certificates, genealogical notes and property records, concerning Hickey's own life as well as his immediate family and maternal ancestors and allied families, namely De La Ronde, White, Kohn, and Meyer families. Most of the papers emanate from Louisiana; some twentieth-century papers are from Texas and Tennessee.

Maunsel White Hickey, born Nov. 9, 1918, in Galveston, Tex., attended Tulane University during the 1930s. He was a descendant of Héloise de la Ronde (daughter of Pierre Denis de la Ronde (1762-1824) and Eulalie Guerbois), whose second husband was Maunsel White (1783-1863), New Orleans, La., merchant and southern Louisiana planter.
